ABC News says that both Republican presidential nominee, former president Donald Trump, and his Democratic counterpart, Vice President Kamala Harris, have agreed to meet in a debate on Sept. 10.
The network’s announcement on Thursday came shortly after Trump told a press conference that he had agreed to three debates with Harris in September on separate networks.
The Trump campaign said the other two Trump proposed debate dates are Sept. 4 on Fox News and Sept. 25 on NBC.
Sept. 10 was the date Trump had initially agreed to debate President Joe Biden before Biden dropped out of the race.
Trump is rejoining the ABC debate days after posting on his social media network that he would not appear on the network, citing a lawsuit he has filed.
“I think it’s very important to have debates,” Trump said Thursday. “I look forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight.”
On the social media site X later that day, Harris wrote: “I hear that Donald Trump has fully committed to debating me on September 10. I look forward to it.”
ABC says that David Muir and Linsey Davis will moderate the debate.
Trump also said he wants his vice presidential candidate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), to debate Harris’s choice for VP, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, on CBS. The network is discussing potential dates to propose for that meeting.
Trump’s press conference came after Vance said that Harris has yet to hold a press conference or sit down for an interview as the presumptive Democrat nominee.
Vance urged the media to put pressure on Harris to speak to the press. In a surprise appearance, he spoke to a group of reporters waiting for Harris at the airport tarmac in Wisconsin, outside Air Force Two on Aug. 7.
“I just wanted to check out my future plane, but I also wanted to go say hello to the vice president and ask her why Kamala Harris refuses … why does she refuse to answer questions from the media?” Vance questioned.
Harris’ campaign posted on Aug. 6 to Truth Social to compare the crowd at her Philadelphia rally to that of Trump’s previous rally held at the same location.
“Harris rally vs. @realDonaldTrump rally. Same arena in Philly,” the post stated, alongside side-by-side photos of Liacouras Center at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, Harris and Walz will continue their campaign blitz this week through battleground states, rallying supporters on Aug. 8 in Michigan and Arizona.
