3 High School Football Players Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges
(York County)

Three high school football players were charged with sexual assault, it was reported.

The 16-year-old boys from the Central York High School football team in West York, Pennsylvania, are being charged as adults in the case.

The girl who was assaulted told the authorities that she was with her friends at the York Fair on Sept. 16, where the three boys started to followed them, reported The Associated Press.

According to the York Daily Record, the boys were identified as “Kelvin J. Mercedes of the 2500 block of North George Street, Andrew R. Miller of the 600 block of Norman Road, and Daishon M. Richardson of the 1000 block of Hearthridge Lane.”

The girl then said she was taken to unknown locations and sexually assaulted.

Two boys were arrested without incident, and the third eventually surrendered himself to police at the York County courthouse on Tuesday.

The three were charged with rape–forcible compulsion, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful restraint, and making terroristic threats.

WGAL-TV reported that the girl told the court that Mercedes had threatened her with a gun. She told the court that Mercedes put a gun to her head and forced her into sexual acts.

The girl said she knew the three before the incident.

District Judge Jennifer J.P. Clancy’s office said that Richardson, Miller and Mercedes are not allowed to have any contact with the victim, and that they would be monitored after their release. They posted $25,000 bail each.

“Law enforcement officials have advised that this is a non-school related issue and, therefore, we do not have any comment on the ongoing police investigation,” Julie Randall Romig, the director of communications for the school district, said. “At no time were any students, faculty or staff in danger on school property as a result of this non-school related incident.”

The boys’ next court date is Jan. 11.
