Whole Foods is recalling a slew of products over potential salmonella contamination, including salads, pizza, and sandwiches.
The Amazon-owned, Texas-based company said that all of the recalled items contain baby spinach. Baby spinach and mesclun from Satur Farms, a New York-based Whole Foods supplier, was recently identified as being potentially contaminated by salmonella.
“Consumption of this product by consumers represents a potential health hazard,” Whole Foods said in a message on its website.
“The affected products, including salads, pizza, sandwiches, and wraps, were sold at stores in Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. No illnesses have been reported at this time,” according to the Food & Drug Administration.
Satur Farms has requested all wholesaler and retail businesses that received the potentially contaminated spinach and mesclun to stop selling it.
Anyone who bought one or more of the items can return them to the store with a receipt for a full refund.

Previous Recall, Salmonella
In October 2018, Whole Foods was among the companies that recalled food products over concerns of both listeria and salmonella.
GH Foods recalled ready-to-eat salads sold under the Whole Foods brand, citing concern over a contaminated corn ingredient.
Trader Joe’s and 711 brands were also recalled over similar concerns.
Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, a common bacterial foodborne illness, noted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“CDC estimates Salmonella causes about 1.2 million illnesses, 23,000 hospitalizations, and 450 deaths in the United States every year. Food is the source for about 1 million of these illnesses,” the agency stated.
Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after consuming a contaminated product.
Most people recover without treatment; most of those hospitalized suffer from severe diarrhea.
The illness typically lasts four to seven days.
