‘We Dodged a Bullet as a Nation’: Retired ATF Official

Former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday when a bullet fired by 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks pierced his right ear, narrowly missing his temple.

For a closer look at the role law enforcement and the Secret Service played before and during the attack, NTD spoke to retired NYPD homicide detective Peter Forcelli. Mr. Forcelli is a former deputy director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. He shared his professional assessment of the security measures employed at the rally, and how they failed to prevent the attempt on the former president’s life.
