A school in north London known as Britain’s strictest school has been challenged in court over its policy to not allow prayer rituals. The policy was brought in after Muslim pupils took part in daily prayer.
The school said it caused events including intimidation, violence, and racial harassment of teachers. So the school introduced a blanket ban. However, a Muslim student said the policy was discriminatory.
A ruling is expected at a later date, but it brings up a broader topic of how to handle multi-faith requirements in schools. NTD discussed this earlier with the director of Don’t Divide Us, Alka Sehgal Cuthbert.
