The U.S. and Japan are simulating war games with a new player.
For the first time ever Taiwanese analysts will join their Japanese and American counterparts in tabletop simulations.
According to a Taiwanese think tank, the collaboration will take place in mid-July aiming to bolster the island’s defense. That’s against the possibility of a cross-strait clash.
Previous simulations conducted by the U.S. and Japan suggest that the two nations would be able to defend Taiwan from a potential Chinese attack, but the impacts would be catastrophic on their ends, too.
Beijing has been ramping up pressure on Taiwan for decades. The regime sees the island as its own territory despite never having ruled it.
