Parents who spend a lot of time looking at screens instead of interacting with their kids could be hindering their children’s language development, according to a new study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology.

The data also showed that watching screens doesn’t help develop children’s language skills.

Research suggests parents should try not to spend too much time on devices when they are with their kids. Experts say verbal interactions with parents are one of the most important ways children learn a language.
