MODESTO, Calif.—As Shen Yun Performing Arts wrapped up its shows in Modesto, audience members said they were amazed by the dance techniques and the performance’s message.
It was former talk show host and ballerina Diane Wagner’s 3rd time seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts.
“Oh, I think the technique is spectacular. I can tell they train extensively their extensions are wonderful, their toes are pointed, their legs are extended the lines of the arms are just beautiful and very fluid. I love the costuming when they had that long extended arms. That was spectacular. That’s something very unique that you don’t see everywhere so I encourage everybody to come and see the show,” Wagner said.
Dean McFalls, an author and former minister said: “I think they take the beauty to a higher level. Like the water dance—the water sleeves.”
Shen Yun performed at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, California on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
“It was just overwhelming. I mean the costumes, the choreography the music was all very, very impressive,” said Charlie Menghetti, president of Menghetti Construction.
He watched Shen Yun with his wife, Katie Menghetti.
“And the screen was such a surprise. When it came alive, I had no idea that that was going to happen, and that was fantastic,” Mrs. Menghetti said.
Shen Yun is based in New York and it uses classical Chinese dance to tell stories from China before communism as well as modern-day China.
“They’re not allowed to dance. They’re not allowed to sing. They’re not allowed to share their love of the universe, and God, love, and light. And I think this show really depicts that and shows the beauty of ancient Chinese culture and traditions,” Wagner said.
“It speaks to us not only of the human spirit, on that we all have a higher destiny, higher calling. We come from a higher source, but also we have to fight for our freedoms,” Mr. McFalls said.
