“It seems to have an energy, perhaps cosmic, Chinese. I’m not sure of its origin, but it definitely exists and permeates the performance.”
That’s what Mauro Bellini, the president of Marcopolo SA and the chairperson at Moneo Bank, said about the performance of Shen Yun. He said he felt a powerful energy present.
Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage in São Paulo, Brazil—giving audiences a glimpse into ancient Chinese civilization—on April 26 and 27. Some audience members said the performance moved them to tears.
“It was incredibly touching. I cried multiple times, especially during certain scenes as the story unfolded on stage. It was truly moving, indeed. The soprano’s part also gave me chills,” said Andréa Caram Fernandes, a dental surgeon.
“All the costumes are stunning. Even the simplest ones, even when it’s just a student in a basic school uniform. You can see that everything is very well thought out, meticulously crafted, right down to the colors to create this spectacular performance that is so enchanting to the audience on this side. It’s truly, truly impressive,” said Cristina Graeml, a journalist and author.
“Every moment from start to finish, including the piano performance, was exceptional. The operatic singing was stunning. There’s so much beauty to be found here,” said Marly Lemos, a hotel owner.
“Magnificent. It’s quite an interactive and playful performance. The moment when the characters step out from the screen into the real world is truly exhilarating,” said Mr. Bellini.
“It was amazing. The synchronicity, the stories. And something that really caught my attention was that you see the dancing and their interaction with the screen. It was really surprising,” said Paula Linhares, the board founder of Reagent Media.
“They were stunning and added a sense of grace to the dance, didn’t they? It makes you want to jump in and dance with them. It was beautiful, I loved it,” she added.
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture—and virtues—a culture which was believed to be inspired by the divine.
Linhares also said she had deep admiration for Shen Yun’s efforts and mission.
“I really appreciate that. It’s important to preserve and revive such traditions, especially in today’s world. It was very special.”
“The work speaks for itself. Reclaiming the Divine was very significant for me. These are fundamental elements in our contemporary society,” said Mirtes Regina de Ávila, an art teacher.
Shen Yun presents an all-new program every season—including original dances, music, stories, and backdrops.
“I thought the performance was very beautiful and touching. It’s fascinating to gain a deeper understanding of the culture. I found it very moving, it was quite lovely,” said Sorandy Ayres Santos, a state attorney.
“I hope they keep bringing such beautiful experiences to our souls,” she added.
“I’d like to extend my congratulations to the dancers and encourage them to keep captivating the world. I’m grateful for their visit to our country. We need more culture, and humanity needs grace, which comes from the beauty of preserving culture,” said Marcus Reis, the president and director of Reis Lawyers.
Shen Yun will perform in São Paulo, Brazil, until May 5.
