Germans from all walks of life describe their experience seeing Shen Yun, a world premier group for classical Chinese dance.
“I find it really impressive. Magnificent! It’s truly art, it’s the highest art,” said Michael Buchmann, the former advisor to the Thai Prime Minister.
“It’s like being transported into another world, just beautiful,” said Silvia Arnold, an entrepreneur.
“Absolutely fantastic, this grace, this magic, the charisma of these artists is really impressive, and the acrobatics is as well, of course,” said Peter Gatti, the managing partner of Gatti Unternehmerkapital GmbH. “The artistry of the dancers is outstanding. The colors, the brightness of the costumes are breathtaking. And what is, of course new and very impressive is the backdrop and the interaction with the artists. It’s very well done.”
“This was a very wonderful performance, full of grace but also full of artistry. The color, that was really amazing,” said Oliver Stirbock.
Oliver Stirbock is a member of the German Parliament. He found inspiration in the message of the performance.
“You feel inspired and elated, and all the stories are parables that show the value of freedom and the value of mercy and love,” he added. “You can see what a wonderful culture China actually has. And what’s actually being overshadowed by barbaric communism, unfortunately.”
“Really great, really magnificent, very impressive.,” said Norbert Wulff, a business consultant. “I also find it exciting to see the entire span of history from 5,000 years back to the present, to the persecution scene. I find it very, very impressive and extremely exciting.”
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive the 5000 years of Chinese culture, which was almost lost under the communist regime. The spiritual basis resonated strongly with some audience members.
“I liked the emphasis on tradition and family values and the virtues and characters that are very important these days,” Jonathan Black, a U.S. Air Force unit chaplain.
“It conveys a message to look at what real values are,” said Mr. Bunchman. “And tradition is a value. There are values that are above us humans, divine values, there is a higher power. I find that a very important message.”
