Shen Yun got on stage for eight performances in Aix-En-Provence, France, at the end of February. Audiences said it was like being in a heavenly world.
Virginie Laborde, a musician, recommended her daughter who lives in London to see the performance: “I advised her to quickly go and see this Shen Yun performance, which is exceptional, really of an immense quality, depth, and excellence.”
“I have rarely seen a performance as beautiful and as poetic, as aesthetic, and really very spiritual too. Really very interesting,” she added.
“Beautiful, beautiful. There is a gestural choreography, which is magnificent. And in addition, what dazzled me is there are no words to describe how sublime the performance is,” said Jean-Marie Boned, a former business owner.
“It was incredibly beautiful. I felt like I was in a heavenly world. The spiritual message is extremely important for me as well,” said dancer Laurence Huon de Kermadec, who is French nobility. “It’s one of the most beautiful performances, the most beautiful performance of my whole life.”
Theatergoers appreciated the traditional values that come through in the performance.
“A lot of compassion, a lot of beauty that the world needs so much. And you [Shen Yun] express it with such poetry, such lightness at the same time, and a lot of optimism. It’s really very beautiful,” Ms. Laborde said.
“It is a deep compassion. It’s profound,” Mr. Boned said. “This compassion must be for humanity, truly extended for all generations to come, I wish it with all my heart.”
Many were impressed by Shen Yun’s portrayal of China’s 5,000 years of culture, which is said to be divinely inspired.
“A lot of spirituality in this performance, and it’s universal in fact,” Ms. Laborde said.
“This connection hit me directly in the heart and afterwards it was something that captivated me. It brings everyone closer to something superior, that is to say, a different level from what we live every day,” said businessman Eric Gras. “I realize that through this, you have been able to make us live again. It is something really wonderful.”
“The message, it is magnificent, it is great. We need, at this moment, this message of peace, this message of goodness, of love, of spirituality, of brotherhood between all human beings, and that is what you succeeded in bringing with this performance,” Ms. Huon de Kermadec said. “You bring the perfect beauty, you bring the divine to the earth with this. We need it so much and that’s what you do.”
Audience members thanked Shen Yun for giving them joy and hope.
“[Shen Yun] has given us a moment of enormous pleasure, and you have quite united the joy, hope, and goodness of everyone. And that’s what I say to you. Thank you again,” Mr. Boned said.
“I think we need [Shen Yun] because we have become too down to earth, we are too attached to the superficial, and this allows us to rise in realms that we have lost and that, somewhere, are important to us,” Mr. Gras said. “I think that there are many people who should see it, if only on a spiritual level, and rise.”
“When you come out, you are not the same. We are enriched. Our aura, our subtle bodies are enriched with this beauty, this light, all these virtues that they transmit to all the audiences. And each audience member left with this light that they will be able to bring to others as well,” Ms. Huon de Kermadec said.
“I thank them from the bottom of my heart, and the message, it is splendid. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much, thank you.”
Shen Yun will be back in France this April, performing in four cities, including Paris and Tours.
