Shen Yun is a revival and a celebration of China’s rich culture—live on stage. The 2024 performance features new stories, choreography, and music.
“I thought it was incredible. The quality of dance was second to none. … I got goosebumps, which was just so beautiful,” said Kristen d’Aulan, Winery owner. Lawyer Caroline Allen agreed.
“It’s absolutely amazing. It’s beautiful. Really beautiful. Really, really enjoying it,” Ms. Allen said.
“My favorite was the ladies with the long sleeves. I thought that was amazing. I’ve never seen anything like that before. Completely different. Really, really beautiful,” she added.
The audience at London’s Eventim Apollo said the show was beautiful to watch and had positive and inspiring messages.
“The costumes are beautiful. I love all the bright colors and it’s very vibrant … there’s a lot of good energy. It’s really uplifting, I think the color brings a lot of positivity,” said Alex Zamfir, CEO of a security company.
“The stories were quite inspiring! The message is to look forward to the future, even if sometimes things are hard, you always need to look for the bright side. And I really enjoyed the show, so much color! And the dance was amazing,” he added.
Ms. d’Aulan took from the storylines that “everyone and everything is interconnected.”
Some found the experience moving.
Jon Crosse said he cried for the first two or three parts of the show. He described it as “very moving, overwhelming … and so beautiful.”
“What made me cry was the overpowering senses, the colors, the movement, the spiraling of the long sleeves. The music was beautiful, it was in such harmony with the dance. The choreography being so tight, it was magical. I thought it was really wonderful. I love the overpowering sense of color with the backdrop. It was really classical.”
Phuong Doan, a Credit Risk director at an Investment Company said he felt “purified” after the performance. Shen Yun brings to the stage stories of love and loss, of humor, and heroic deeds through classical Chinese dance.
“Amazing dance practices, and skills from the dancers. And also the orchestra is fantastic. Seriously, it’s really really amazing. I have never seen anything like this ever in my life, to be honest,” he said.
“The skill and the passion to be able to be in unison like that is incredible. And the orchestra is wonderful and it’s a celebration of Chinese culture. So it’s such a blessing,” said Ms. d’Aulan smiling.
Shen Yun performances continue in London this weekend. Upcoming shows include theaters in Liverpool and Salford as part of its 2024 UK tour.
