On Jan. 4, Shen Yun Performing Arts delivered two more sold-out performances at the Grand Theatre in Aix-en-Provence, France, also known as the Land of Lavender. The renaissance of 5,000 years of Chinese history, culture, and beauty presented by the company is charming local audiences. They praised the show for its artistic excellence and profound spiritual essence.
Bettina Monsonego, founder of law firm BMM AVOCAT & ADVOKAT, said: “Stunning. Nothing more to say. Stunning. I’m in awe of the technique, the beauty, the costumes. I was expecting a lot, but this is beyond … Beyond my expectations, in fact. Magnificent.”
Joachim Monsonego, senior consultant at EY, said: “The artistic level? Well, very high. These artists show their professionalism, their rigor, and their training. It’s all obvious. So it’s really very impressive.”
The audience enjoys a rich combination of classical Chinese dance with live orchestra music throughout Shen Yun’s performance. They were moved by the pure energy and spiritual depth they felt from the show.
Nicolas Rodriguez, a warrant officer in French Gendarmerie, said: “At the beginning, when it starts, it’s impressive, you’re in it, you get into the universe and once you’re in it all the way, you feel good, you feel that everything is pure, everything is refined, whether it’s the costumes, the movements and all that. You feel very, very good.”
“Serenity. Joy. I feel both,” said Bettina Monsonego.
“You can feel the emotion trying to get from behind the artist to the viewer. You can really feel the energy, a wide range of emotions, energy, dynamism. Really there are a lot of things you can feel through movement, sounds, and costumes. Everything makes for an incredible experience,” said Joachim Monsonego.
“There’s a strong sense throughout the show that it’s all about the divine,” said Nicolas Rodriguez.
Many expressed a wish for more people to see the show and experience traditional Chinese culture.
“Today, with a Chinese regime that tends to sideline ancient Chinese culture—which is something so important to preserve, a millennia-old culture, one of the oldest in the world—I think it is a beautiful, a truly beautiful effort to safeguard this culture and share it with the people of the world, beyond China,” said Joachim Monsonego.
“I think it can bring us a lot, given the way the world is evolving and what is happening in the world today. I believe many, many people should come and see this performance and reflect on it,” said Bettina Monsonego.
