The audience was in awe at a sold-out Shen Yun performance in Birmingham.
Thousands of audience members filled Birmingham’s ICC to watch Shen Yun Performing Arts. The dance company brings authentic Chinese culture to life on stage.
“I’m just overwhelmed with the amazing color, the drama, the tradition,” said musician Steve Spiro after watching the show.
He was impressed by the format of the performance, including Shen Yun’s digital backdrop, which transports the audience through China’s 5,000-year-old culture.
“The technology that you’ve used has still kept it very much within the storybook format. And it’s not like a Disney experience, or something like that, it’s got that traditional value but you’ve brought it to life. It’s a very very clever show,” he said.
Technical Consultant Stuart Walker said the “spiritual factors” in the performance felt relevant with “all the conflicts going on around the world.” He described the show as “enlightening.”
Senior group leader Marian Townsend was moved to tears when talking about the emotions and the honesty she felt were portrayed on stage.
“It felt like it was hundreds of years ago. And we haven’t evolved better, we’ve gone back. We’ve regressed. We need to go back to some of those beautiful values,” she said.
