Shen Yun, a journey through ancient China, performed in San Diego, California, and Birmingham, Alabama, from April 21 to 23.
“Absolutely phenomenal, very impressive what you guys have done with everything,” said Pearson Sharp, who saw Shen Yun in San Diego, California. He is a show host and investigative reporter at One America News Network.
“It was just breathtaking,” said Andi Graham, who is an attorney at Law Office of Trucks & Trucks. She saw the performance in Birmingham, Alabama. “I was blown away by the opening act, just by the powerful music and by the beautiful costumes.”
“Being a musician myself, the amount of work that has gone into the talent that we’re watching on the stage, and down below in the orchestra is phenomenal,” said David Glover, who is a voice-over actor and the expansion director of Custom On Hold Messages. He saw Shen Yun in San Diego, California.
“I enjoyed it very much. The choreography was awesome. And the dance, it was just so entertaining; I hate to see it end,” said Ronnie Thompson, who is the mayor of Level Plains, Alabama. He saw Shen Yun in Birmingham, Alabama.
“Very inspiring, uplifting. I’m energized,” said Russ Neibert, who is a talent manager and the president of AA&M PR & PROMOTIONS. He saw the performance in San Diego, California.
Shen Yun performs authentic classical Chinese dance, showcasing an art form that dates back thousands of years.
“The way that the dancers synchronised with the music is very dynamic. I mean, they’re just, they’re on point. And I love the way that they bring the screen into real life with the dancers … the synchronization is phenomenal. It’s just incredibly done. So kudos to the choreographer,” Mr. Neibert said.
“Just amazing how much time they must spend in becoming so expert at what they do, it’s the best. I have never seen such great poise and balance and acrobatic ability before,” said Brian Gibbs, who is the president of Heritage Retirement Advisors, Inc.
Gibbs saw Shen Yun in San Diego, California. It was his third time seeing Shen Yun. He brought 50 of his clients to see Shen Yun—which cannot be seen in China today.
“Being from divine origin, the love and kindness towards each other, and the belief that we will all be in a better place later. I think that cultural commonality with what I believe and with all of us as people. I think that’s what draws me too, as I wanted to—my clients and others to see the beautiful nature of the Chinese people” Mr. Gibbs said.
“Traditional China is just, it’s phenomenal. It’s beautiful, and that’s being lost. So I think having a show like Shen Yun, that promotes that and preserves it, is just one of the most important things that you guys can be doing,” Mr. Sharp said.
“I’m glad that they can perform this here, where they’re free to do that, and show us what really is going on in China, because a lot of times we don’t get the truth. But this helps us see light of what is real,” Mr. Glover said.
According to Shen Yun’s website, China was once known as “The Land of the Divine,” an idea deeply rooted in its culture.
“I really like that. I think it’s kind of an Asian Chinese culture take on our supreme being, and where we all come from and where we’re all going,” Mr. Neibert said.
“Creator coming down with them and then delivering them from problems. I really felt a great connection with that,” Mr. Gibbs said.
“Anything’s possible through God. So as long as you have your belief in your faith, you can accomplish anything,” Ms. Graham said.
Shen Yun tours the world with all new performances every year—bringing new choreography, music, and storytelling to the stage.
“Keep it up, keep it up. This is so important. What you’re doing is saving a culture and there’s nothing more important that you could be doing,” Mr. Sharp said.
“I will say I will do my best to bring this to our city and would encourage everyone to come watch it, that they will get a spiritual, uplifting event out of it,” Mr. Thompson said.
“Thank you very much for your talent. Thank you for sharing with us. Thank you for bringing your story to the world. Keep it up; nice job,” Mr. Neibert said.
Shen Yun will perform in Newark, New Jersey this weekend.
