Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) pressed DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas at a Thursday Senate Appropriations Committee hearing about changes from Trump administration immigration policies, with the changes resulting in increased numbers of illegal immigrants crossing the US border, asking “Why did you do it?”
As Mr. Mayorkas claimed the Biden administration “did not open the border,” Mr. Johnson proceeded to press the secretary with illegal immigrant encounter and crime statistics, asking him “Do you have any regrets? Do you have any remorse?”
The hearing came the day after Senate Democrats voted to dismiss the House of Representatives’ articles of impeachment against Mr. Mayorkas.
