A Russian court on Oct. 7 sentenced 72-year-old American citizen Stephen James Hubbard to 7 years in prison on charges of serving as a mercenary for Ukraine. Russian media reported that Hubbard pleaded guilty. But his family questioned the confession, saying he held pro-Russian views and was unlikely to have taken up weapons at his age.
