In 2020, Washington designated an additional 17 Chinese entities as foreign missions—ranging from state-run news outlets to other groups linked to the regime’s influence operations. According to a report by the U.S.–China Economic and Security Review Commission, these entities are either “substantially owned or effectively controlled” by the Chinese Communist Party.
