Locals and tourists worked together to rescue a sloth that was seen hanging from electrical wires in eastern Costa Rica.
Footage, filmed in the Limón region of Costa Rica on March 13, shows a man using a ladder to reach the sloth and gently removing the animal’s paws from the power lines.
The sloth does not know it is being rescued and does not help with the rescue.
After being detached from the wires and now clinging to the ladder, the sloth tries to grab hold of the wires again, but the rescuers move the ladder just in time. The ladder, with sloth still gripping it, is carried to the forest so the sloth can disembark into trees.
“We were driving along and noticed a sloth that was trapped with no trees around to climb. We learned earlier that day that often sloths are electrocuted on the wires,” the filmer told Newsflare.
“With the help of some locals and the rest of the group we were able to get the sloth down and back into his favourite type of tree in the jungle.”
