Shen Yun Performing Arts was founded in New York state in 2006 with a mission to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through music and dance. Every year, Shen Yun produces an all-new performance and tours it around the world. Millions have seen Shen Yun’s performances, and audience members were left in awe.
Shen Yun’s all-original compositions feature a perfect harmony of classical music from the East and West. The Thanksgiving special performance by Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra features Shen Yun’s most celebrated original compositions along with timeless orchestral classics by Tchaikovsky, Smetana, and Gounod.
“The music they’ve created is such an excellent combination of traditional melodies,” said Dr. Richard Webb, organist, musicologist, and professor at Southern University.
“Delightful,” said Per Brevig, conductor and professor of The Juilliard School. “They blend the Chinese instruments so very well with the Western instruments.”
“Really wonderful! I’d be interested in playing some of this music or trying some of it myself,” said Charles Castleman, virtuoso violinist and professor of Eastman School of Music.
