Here is the latest:
American Allman Wins 2nd Successive Women’s Discus Title
Valarie Allman of the United States captured her second consecutive Olympic women’s discus gold medal on Monday, unleashing a 69.50-meter effort on her fourth throw.
The 29-year-old’s mark was nearly two meters better than China’s Feng Bin, who took silver with 67.51.
Former double Olympic and world champion Sandra Elkasevic of Croatia also threw 67.51 but had to settle for bronze because Feng’s second-best effort topped the Croatian’s.
Allman followed her Tokyo gold with back-to-back world titles in 2022 and 2023 and is unbeaten this season.
Having gold locked up before her final throw, the American stepped into the circle to huge applause and after hurling the discus 69.21 sprinted to her coach and leapt into his arms.

Canada prevailed with scores of 21-19 and 21-18. Despite trailing by five points in the first set, the Canadians moved ahead to secure the win. In the second set, the United States fought back to tie the score at 18 before Canada closed out the match with three consecutive points.
Spain Upsets USA, Claims 3×3 Title
In a heart-stopping overtime finish, Spain stunned the defending United States to capture a gold medal in women’s 3×3 basketball. The game was tied at 16 after regulation.
Sandra Ygueravide proved to be Spain’s hero, sinking a free throw with seconds remaining to bring the score to 18-16. The United States had a chance to win on Rhyne Howard’s jumper, but it rimmed out, opening the door for Ygueravide to drive and draw a foul from Dearica Hamby. With the United States out of fouls, Ygueravide converted the free throw to seal the win and deny the Americans a chance at gold.

Simone Biles Finishes Off Her Return to the Olympics With a Silver on Floor Exercise
Simone Biles didn’t get the golden sendoff she hoped.

Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade became the first gymnast to beat Biles in a floor final in a major international competition, posting a score of 14.166 that finished just ahead of Biles at 14.133.
Jordan Chiles, a longtime friend of Biles, earned the bronze.
Simone Biles Slips off the Balance Beam during Event Finals to Miss the Olympic Medal Stand
No medal for Simone Biles on the balance beam this time.
The American gymnastics star slipped and fell off the apparatus at the end of her acrobatic series during the beam finals Monday, denying her an opportunity to add to the bronzes she won on the event at the 2016 and 2020 Games.
Wearing a blue-and-white leotard featuring over 5,000 crystals, Biles was more than halfway through her set when she couldn’t quite keep her balance. She hopped off the beam and onto the mat while thousands inside a packed Bercy Arena let out an audible “ohhh.”
Biles received a score of 13.100, tied with U.S. teammate Sunisa Lee for fourth.
There was an extended wait for her score to be posted. At one point, Biles rolled her eyes in seeming annoyance knowing she wasn’t going to finish on the medal stand.
Alice D’Amato of Italy took the gold with a score of 14.366. Zhou Yaqin of China earned silver with a 14.100, just ahead of bronze medalist Manila Esposito of Italy.
Biles finished in a tie for fifth with Lee, whose hopes for a gold on beam she’s long coveted ended in the middle of her routine when she fell during the end of her acro series, just like Biles did a few minutes later.
Biles will be in the floor final later Monday.

Simone Biles Returns on Beam and Floor Finals
American gymnastics star Simone Biles is on the floor at Bercy Arena for the final day of competition.
Biles is in both the balance beam and floor exercise finals, where she will try to add to the three golds ( team, all-around and vault ) she’s already won in Paris.
The 27-year-old will begin on beam, where she is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist and a four-time world champion. Biles was second in qualifying behind China’s Zhou Yaqin last week. She will go next-to-last in an eight-woman final that includes U.S. teammate Sunisa Lee and Brazilian standout Rebeca Andrade.
Biles will then move to the floor later Monday, an event where she’s never lost a major international competition, including a gold in Rio de Janeiro eight years ago.
