A software update wreaked havoc on computer systems globally Friday, grounding flights, forcing some broadcasters off air, and hitting services from banking to health care. The company that developed the update for Microsoft’s Windows operating system said it was not a security incident or cyberattack.
The global IT outage also affected thousands of GP practices across England, causing disruption to appointment bookings and other services.
West Yorkshire police said several people have been arrested, following violent disorder in Leeds, and “further arrests will be made over the next few days.”
