Several U.S. cities issued air quality warnings on June 28 as a smoky haze from ongoing Canadian wildfires spreads south. The former U.S. Marine sergeant accused of fatally strangling Jordan Neely, a homeless man, in a chokehold in a New York subway car last month appeared in court on June 28, pleading not guilty to charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. The former Marine, Daniel Penny, 24, will appear for another hearing on Oct. 25.
