President-elect Donald Trump has chosen former acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker to serve as U.S. ambassador to NATO. In a statement, Trump said Whitaker was “a strong warrior and loyal Patriot.” He said Whitaker would advance and defend the interests of the United States while strengthening existing relationships with America’s NATO allies.

The man accused of killing Georgia nursing student Laken Riley has been convicted of murder, according to a ruling today.

Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv after the United States shut its embassy there due to “specific information of a potential significant air attack.” It told U.S. citizens in Ukraine to be ready to seek shelter.
