President-elect Donald Trump returned to Washington on Wednesday, visiting the White House for an Oval Office meeting with President Joe Biden. The two men committed to a smooth transition of power in a meeting that is viewed as a traditional courtesy.
Republicans elected Sen. John Thune of South Dakota as the next Senate majority leader on Wednesday, to replace long-time leader Sen. Mitch McConnell. In a secret ballot vote, Thune beat two other competitors, Sens. John Cornyn of Texas and Rick Scott of Florida.
A U.S. government worker has been charged with leaking classified information assessing Israel’s earlier plans to attack Iran, according to court papers filed on Wednesday. The man, identified as Asif William Rahman, was arrested by the FBI this week in Cambodia and was due to make his first court appearance in Guam.
