Georgia lawmakers approved new rules on March 28 for challenging voter eligibility and qualifying for the state’s presidential ballot—changes that could impact the 2024 presidential race in the battleground state. The bill would grant access to Georgia’s ballot to any political party that has qualified for the presidential ballot in at least 20 states or territories. The change could be a boost to independent candidates such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The bill also spells out what constitutes “probable cause” for upholding challenges to voter eligibility, which could lead to voters being removed from the rolls.
Former Democratic Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton teamed up with entertainers on Thursday to fundraise for President Joe Biden, raking in a record-setting $26 million-plus for his reelection campaign. The event at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall was, however, marred by disruption from pro-Palestinian protesters shouting from the audience. The protestors yelled “blood on your hands” and interrupted the three presidents as they attempted to make their remarks on Gaza.
Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich has been behind bars in Russia for a year now. A Moscow court extended the journalist’s pretrial detention again until June 30, which is when his trial is due to start. Russia’s Security Service have accused Gershkovich of being a spy—a charge he and his employer, The Wall Street Journal, have denied. The Kremlin says there are ongoing negotiations regarding a potential prisoner swap that could send Gershkovich home.
