The Republican National Convention heads into its second day on Tuesday, with the focus shifting to illegal immigration and crime. A coalition of protest groups said it will end its demonstrations around the convention.
The Democratic National Committee has announced that it is investing $15 million to fund campaign operations in seven key swing states. The funding will allow the Democratic Party to add to the nearly 220 existing coordinated campaign offices working together for President Joe Biden’s re-election bid.
Powerful storms—including a number of tornadoes—blew through Iowa, Indiana, and Illinois, including the Chicago area, on Monday evening, toppling trees and power poles and cutting electricity to hundreds of thousands of people. A woman in Indiana died after a tree fell onto a home.
