Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane, with sustained winds of more than 100 miles per hour. Milton landed near Sarasota, about 70 miles south of Tampa, at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Petersburg recorded more than 16 inches of rain, prompting the National Weather Service to warn of flash flooding there as well as in other parts of western and central Florida. More than 3 million homes and businesses were without power early Thursday, according to PowerOutage.us.

Two people were killed and a building was set ablaze in a northern Israeli city on Wednesday after the Hezbollah terrorist group fired a barrage of rockets from Lebanon.
