Former President Jimmy Carter is expected to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol while memorial services proceed. The ceremonies for Carter’s funeral will begin on Jan. 4, and he will be buried in Plains, Georgia, on Jan. 9. Russia and Ukraine conducted a prisoner swap on Monday after a deal was coordinated by the United Arab Emirates and other partners. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the release of 189 Ukrainian captives, while Russia’s defense ministry reported that both sides had released 150 prisoners.
