On Capitol Hill Tuesday, Rep. Young Kim (R-Calif.) welcomed several witnesses who fled the North Korean communist regime to share their stories. Defectors who get send back to North Korea are often subjects to severe punishments like torture, forced labour, sex trafficking, and even execution. There have been reports of China forcibly repatriate thousands of North Korean refugees back to their home country. Some experts, along with members of Congress have urged the UN human rights council to suspend China from the bloc.
