New York City Comptroller Brad Lander announced Thursday two lawsuits against New York Gov. Kathy Hochul for her decision to indefinitely postpone the NYC congestion pricing plan, a law that requires drivers entering the Manhattan Central Business District to pay a fee for every entry. Critics of the governor’s actions say she did not have the authority to single-handedly pause the law, which was set to begin on June 30, at the eleventh hour. If the court rules in favor of the plaintiffs, the law will go into effect regardless despite Ms. Hochul’s delay.
