New York City Tackles Illegal Cannabis Stores Targeting Minors

“Operation Padlock to Protect” is an initiative that has shut down over 750 illegal cannabis stores in New York City. Mayor Eric Adams and New York State Gov. Kathy Hochul say the shops sell unregulated products that could be laced with other deadly substances, and are hubs of illegal activity. They say the illegal businesses are enticing children to use cannabis with brightly colored packaging and flavored products.
