In a statement on Truth Social on Monday, President-elect Donald Trump threatened to levy a 25 percent tariff on all goods from Mexico and Canada, as well as an additional 10 percent tariff on goods from China. This was in response to the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs over the border into the United States.
NTD spoke with Michael Busler, public policy analyst and professor of finance at Stockton University, who said that the tariffs are part of Trump’s negotiation tactic with Canada and Mexico, as well as a strategy to protect U.S. manufacturing from China.
