Authorities in Maryland arrested a female high school student after she allegedly made bomb threats via social media on Aug. 27 against Walkersville High School.
The suspect, whose name will not be released due to being a juvenile, also threatened to blow up a teacher’s home, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said in a press release.
The sheriff’s office immediately launched an investigation and has since found the threats to be “not credible,” according to the release.
The suspect was successfully identified after deputies conducted multiple interviews throughout the course of Saturday evening.
Police said charges in the case are pending via a juvenile referral as the investigation into the threat is ongoing.
On Aug. 27, a deputy received notification of threats of violence made, via social media, to blow up Walkersville High School & to blow up a teacher’s house.
FCSO deputies found the threats to be not credible and charges are pending.

Todd Wivell, an FCSO spokesman, told The Frederick News-Post in an interview that the threats were posted on the female student’s Instagram account.
Staff notified the high school’s community early on Aug. 28 and shared a video about social media threats in an email titled “Find Out First” as a reminder of the threats and the ramifications of bomb threats.
School administrators of Frederick County “may enact their own disciplinary actions” against the student, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have more information about the bomb threat to contact the FCSO at 301-600-1046.
