New York City Police say the man who lit himself on fire Friday in front of the courthouse where former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial is being held is Maxwell Azzarello, a St. Augustine, Florida, resident. Mr. Azzarello is currently in critical condition after being taken to Cornell Burn Unit by rescuers who were on the scene.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny says an investigation is underway, which will include a look into Mr. Azzarello’s social media posts and other online activity, and talking with his associates. Mr. Kenny also said family members of Mr. Azzarello were unaware he was in New York.
