Love letters between Jackie Kennedy and the British ambassador during the Kennedy presidency are going up for auction.
Lord Harlech, David Ormsby-Gore, was the British politician that pursued Kennedy after JFK’s assassination and the death of his own wife in a car accident.
The two wrote letters and can be seen in photographs together, but both eventually found other spouses after Kennedy rejected Lord Harlech’s marriage proposal, in a letter of rejection included in the collection of letters.
The 18-letter collection is being put on auction by the current Lord Harlech and grandson of David Ormsby-Gore, Jasset Ormsby-Gore. The letters are part of a larger collection that includes 400 items.
