Rapper and fashion designer Kanye West sent out a series of tweets on Jan. 1, with some showing support for President Trump and some mentioning him by name. As well as tweets showing support for the MAGA hat.
“One of my favorite of many things about what the Trump hat represents to me is that people can’t tell me what to do because I’m black,” West proclaimed in his latest tweet.
Earlier New Year’s Day tweets were perhaps part of his New Year’s resolution:
“Trump all day”
And then came “Just so in 2019 you know where I stand” in one of the following tweets.
After an outpouring of support for Trump, along with subsequent threats and disparagement from his music industry peers, West hasn’t tweeted directly about President Trump since he deleted his last Twitter account, only to emerge with a new one under his “Ye” moniker.

Some of his other New Year’s Day tweets could also be seen as alluding to President Trump, as he refers to his custom designed “Make America Great Again” hat. It’s a hat that he wore during an appearance on Saturday Night Live. West said he was bullied backstage for wearing the hat, as he gave a speech on stage after the show which expressed support for the president. The speech was not aired but parts of it made it to social media, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
President Trump commented on Twitter about West’s experience soon afterward.
“Like many, I don’t watch Saturday Night Live (even though I past hosted it) – no longer funny, no talent or charm. It is just a political ad for the Dems. Word is that Kanye West, who put on a MAGA hat after the show (despite being told “no”), was great. He’s leading the charge!”
Kanye West announced renewed defiance to the trend in show business of stifling support for President Trump.
“From now on I’m performing with my [expletive] hat on,” Kanye announced in one of his latest New Year’s tweet.
It is also the hat that West wore proudly during a publicized visit to the White House, where he and football legend Jim Brown met with President Trump to discuss ways to improve black communities and the city of Chicago.
During that meeting, he gave Trump his own version of the MAGA hat, leaving off the word “Again,” TMZ reported. West also gave Trump a pair of his signature Yeezy sneakers.

In another New Year tweet, he mentioned he spoke with comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan of The Joe Rogan Experience. Indicating to fans that he may appear on a future episode of the podcast.
“Spoke with Joe Rogan Podcast coming soon.”
Many fans commenting on the tweet responded ecstatically.
“We are finally about to receive the Kanye interview we’ve needed for years,” wrote @5yrsLaKeid.
“I honestly cannot wait for this,” wrote @bigfoot_life.
Kanye West also tweeted “2024.” It is the year he has spoken of running for president. He is perhaps letting fans know that in the new year his plans for that have not changed.
