Justin Timberlake has apologized to fans for canceling his New Jersey concert on Tuesday night due to an undisclosed injury.
On Tuesday, the “Mirrors” singer shared the news on Instagram, saying he was seeking to reschedule the event.
“I’m so sorry to postpone tonight’s show. I have an injury that is preventing me from performing,” Timberlake wrote. “I’m so disappointed to not see you all—but I’m working to reschedule ASAP. I promise to make it up to you and give you the show ya’ll deserve.”
He ended the message by thanking his fans for understanding, writing, “[I] appreciate your support always.”
The 10-time Grammy Award-winner released his sixth studio album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” on March 15. The album marked Timberlake’s comeback after a six-year hiatus following his 2018 “Man of the Woods” album.
Last month, the former NSYNC star took a plea deal in his drunk driving case following his arrest in June. He appeared in Sag Harbor Village Court, where he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired, a noncriminal traffic violation that was lighter than his original charge of driving while intoxicated.
Village Justice Carl Irace gave Timberlake a $500 fine with a $260 surcharge, 25 hours of community service at the nonprofit of his choosing, and required him to make a public safety announcement.
“I try to hold myself to a very high standard, for myself, and this was not that,” Timberlake told reporters outside the courtroom after the hearing.
Timberlake said he “could have made a different decision,” and that he has since had the time to reflect on that. He said he wanted to use his platform to share a message with people watching and listening.
“Even if you’ve had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car. There are so many alternatives. Call a friend, take an Uber, there are many travel apps,” he said.
Edward Burke Jr., the singer’s attorney, told reporters at the press conference that his client was not driving while intoxicated.
“The evidence revealed that my client finished the contents of one drink in two hours at The American Hotel,” Burke said. “And contrary to what was reported, he wasn’t drinking other people’s drinks or warned in advance not to drive. He wasn’t rude, he wasn’t obnoxious, he wasn’t belligerent. In fact, he was polite and he was cooperative and he was respectful during his entire encounter with law enforcement, as they were to him.”
Timberlake is currently on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which began in Vancouver, Canada, earlier this year. He is scheduled to continue in North America through Feb. 3, 2025, before heading to Latin America for the next leg of the tour.
