Canadian music superstar Celine Dion dramatically talked up Sunday’s match-up between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys in a couple of clips set to “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”
The segment launched the grudge match between the Cowboys and the Steelers. As of today, the two rivaling teams have played each other 34 times, including three Super Bowls, throughout their history.
Hours before kickoff, Sunday Night Football (SNF) uploaded a teaser clip on its official X account that showed Dion walking down a hallway to the intro to her 1996 hit ballad “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”
Wearing sneakers and a grey Steelers and Cowboys sweatshirt commemorating the 1996 Super Bowl—the last time the two teams faced off for a Super Bowl match.
The clip ends abruptly as Dion approaches the camera, crossing her arms.
“It’s all coming back to Sunday night,” the post captioned.
Dion shared the post on her social media pages.
Sunday’s game was delayed by nearly 90 minutes as rain and thunderstorms passed over western Pennsylvania.
Just before the kickoff, Dion appeared in another video address to football fans, “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” playing in the background.
“I think my favorite thing about this game is its power to connect who we are to who we were,” she narrated, “to prove that our most powerful memories, our most enduring loves, can stay with us forever.
“You know what I’m talking about, right?” she asked viewers. “Some nights, it all just comes back,” she said, as footage of past Steelers versus Cowboys games flashed by on the screen.
“What beautiful passion it produced, what painful heartbreak it revealed, so, so long ago,” she continued.
“Like so many old flames, it always feels right when they’re back together. Don’t you think? Like tonight, evoking the kind of magic they once produced. The Cowboys and the Steelers, a timeless classic, on Sunday night,” Dion concluded.
Dion’s video helped the fans get fired up for the game, which wasn’t just another match-up. The much-anticipated game was the Steelers’ chance to even the score, as the Cowboys outdid their rivals by one win, 17-16.
However, the Steelers failed to secure this opportunity on Sunday, with the Cowboys taking the lead back late in the fourth.
The final score was the Cowboys beating the Steelers 20-17.
At the end of the video, Dion had Gatorade poured over her head, a longtime football tradition, as she pumped her fist in the air.
After disappearing for health reasons, the Canadian singer has taken her first steps back into the public eye. After she developed Stiff-Person Syndrome—a rare neurological condition that causes muscle stiffness—Dion had to cancel all of her 2023 and 2024 tour dates.
She returned to the spotlight this summer for a performance at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics opening ceremony.
