A new report by the research company Graphika found that Chinese communist regime-linked influence operations have become more aggressive ahead of November’s presidential election. The report says that these influence campaigns are known as “spamouflage”—and that as part of these campaigns, Chinese state actors create fake accounts that pose as American voters to then spread divisive narratives about sensitive issues in the United States. So what exactly does the Chinese Communist Party gain from a divided America?
