It’s 25 years since Hong Kong was handed back to China, under an agreement that the city would have freedoms not enjoyed under the communist rule on China’s mainland. But since then, those freedoms are being chipped away, with Beijing most recently imposing a draconian, vaguely defined law on Hong Kong. Western governments have criticized Beijing, with Boris Johnson saying Britain won’t be giving up on Hong Kong.
