The father of a 3-month-old infant who was found dead inside an overturned vehicle in a Texas river earlier this week has been charged with the murder of his daughter on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Jeremy Brown, 30, was accused of abducting his daughter, Lyrik Brown on Monday. A statewide Amber Alert was activated for the girl that same night.

Officials found Brown next to an overturned vehicle that was submerged in the Red River at Interstate 35 in Gainesville Tuesday afternoon, officials with the Gainesville Police Department said in a statement.

Responding officers removed Brown from the river and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene to assess him for injuries.

Once authorities removed the overturned vehicle they found the infant inside the vehicle still sitting in her safety seat. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown was arrested on warrants issued earlier that day, he has been charged in the murder of his daughter on Thursday. It is unclear whether he has an attorney that could speak on his behalf.

Gainsville police responded to a disturbance call on Monday and found Lyrik’s mother driving a gray 2011 Volkswagen Jetta together with her boyfriend, Brown, who is also Lyrik’s father.

Lyrik’s mother told responding officers she and Brown got into a physical altercation. They both exited the vehicle and continued the fight. Brown got back into the vehicle shortly after and left with her car and Lyrik still inside.

Court records indicate that Brown has a long criminal history, FOX4 reported.
