Over 60 years after the U.S. supreme court ruled against racial segregation in public schools, the push for integration and diversity continues, not only for students but also for teachers.

Educators for Excellence is a nonprofit organization started by teachers. Their goal is to identify issues in schools and advocate for policies that will address them. Currently, the group is pushing for more funding for teacher opportunity corp—a teacher preparatory program.

The program provides funding for universities to use so that more teachers from more diverse backgrounds can be well educated and put into the public school systems.

Schools in some boroughs are seeing increasing numbers of students of color that lack educators of color to provide role models.
