DIY Anti-Aging Skincare Routine – Make it at home!

Did you know your skin is the largest organ of your body? The body absorbs 64% (on average) of its environment and what we out on it. There are other areas on the body that have a higher absorption rate so the environment we live in and the products we put on our skin is very important.

If the foods you eat is good for your body then they are also good for your skin.

Sometimes beauty products can be expensive, today I bring you an anti-aging beauty routine that you can make in the comfort of your own home with ingredients you can find in your fridge.

1. Face Cleanser

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour
  • Unsweetened rice milk

 

Directions:

1. Add ¼ cup of rice flour into an empty bowl
2. Add 2-3 tablespoons of rice milk (use water if you don’t have rice milk)
3. Mix until smooth
4. Massage onto skin in a slow circular motion
5. Rinse off with warm water.

Rice is often used in traditional Japanese skincare as it is enriched with vitamin E and helps to gently exfoliate. Use rice milk if you can, it adds a hit of retinol-building Vitamin A and protective calcium into the mix.

2. Exfoliate

Ingredients:

Green apple
Honey
Chia seeds

Directions:

1. Cut the apple in halves, chop one-half in smaller pieces and you can eat the other half.
2. Place the apple in a blender, with 2 tablespoons of chia seeds and 2 tablespoons of honey
3. Blend until smooth and you may need to add some water
4. Let the mixture to sit for a minute
5. Apply it to your skin and scrub away

The apple chia honey scrub sounds good enough to eat. Green apples contain flavonoids, AHA and polyphenols that help to brighten, soothe and plump the skin. Chia seeds is loaded with antioxidants and is a super food you should eat anyways.

After rinsing the exfoliator off, its time for the mask!

3. Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • Blueberries
  • Raw almonds
  • Whole oats
  • Milk

Directions:

1. Place ¼ cup of raw almonds, ¼ cup of fresh blueberries, 2 tbsp of whole oats into a blender
2. Pour in the milk and blend it into a paste. Optional: add some honey to thicken texture
3. Use a brush or spoon to apply mask
4. Leave it on to dry for 20 minutes
5. Gently massage in a circular motion and then rinse it off with warm water

Blueberries are enriched with antioxidants while almonds are packed with essential fatty acids and vitamin E. Oats contain anti-inflammatory properties and milk helps to brighten the skin.

4. Face + Body Oil

Ingredients:

  • Avocado oil
  • Almond oil
  • Coconut oil

Directions:

1. Combine ¼ tablespoon each of avocado oil, almond oil, and coconut oil
2. Mix well. You can pour it into a bottle for future use
3. Apply on dry spots or use as massage oil or lip moisturizer.

You can use this homemade oil on your body and target any dry spots you may have on your face and body. Avocado oil, almond oil and coconut oil are all great at battling dry skin. Especially in this cold, windy environments.

Enjoy this anti-aging skincare routine made with all natural products you can find in your kitchen. Remember, be careful when handling knives and blenders at home!
