Disney Channel actor Sebastian Athié died over the weekend at the age of 24, according to a statement from the National Association of Actors of Mexico.

“With deep regret… on behalf of the association [we] report the significant death of Sebastián Athié,” the statement reads. “We send a hug of solidarity to his family and friends with our deepest condolences.”

The statement did not provide a cause of death for the Mexican-born actor. His fans are demanding that additional information be released as soon as police conduct their investigation.

Athié was best known for his role as Lorenzo Guevara in the Disney TV hit-series “O11CE” or “Once”—a teen television series that premiered in March 2017 on the Latin American Disney channel, which is known in the UK and Ireland as Disney 11.

The youth series is based around a soccer-loving teenager who dreams about becoming a professional player. Athié starred in the series from 2017 to 2019 as Lorenzo Guevara, a young soccer player.

Athié also recorded two songs in 2018 together with fellow “O11CE” actor Javier Eloy Bonanno, where they promoted the second season prior to its launch. One of the songs is titled “Hasta Que Vuelvas,” translated in English, “Until You Return,” and has over 350,000 views on YouTube.

The young star also sang the Mexican national anthem during a friendly match between the national soccer teams of Mexico and Argentina, according to The Sun.

Tributes poured in across social media from fans and networks.

“Rest in peace, Sebas,” the Disney Channel Latin America wrote on Twitter. “Your art and your smile stay forever.”

“We regret the departure of Sebastián Athié and we will always remember him for his talent, companionship, professionalism and above all, enormous heart. We accompany his family, friends and fans in his farewell,” the post continued, according to a translation.

Santiago Stieben, an Argentine actor and television host who played alongside Athié in O11CE, paid tribute to his colleague on Twitter writing, “I am very sad indeed.”
