After reading the article “How Humankind Came To Be” by founder of Falun Gong Mr. Li Hongzhi, registered dietitian Karen Kramser says it has changed her outlook on how she approaches challenges. She says she now understands she is working through her karma and that the good she can bring during challenging situations is what really matters.
Kramser, a happily married mother and grandmother, said life has a way of throwing challenges: one minute all seems perfect, and then another challenge appears.
She believes that, like most people, she is on a spiritual journey.
“I think we’re all a work in progress. And this article by Mr. Li, who explained why human beings came into existence, it resonated with me so much because through my life, I’ve noticed instances where when everything seems perfect, that’s when the next challenge comes up. And I’ve talked to some of my friends who have noticed the same exact things in life. And the article gave me a new perspective,” she told NTD.
She added that it has helped her not feel frustrated when challenges arise and even take a step back and reflect on why a difficult situation may have arisen, or why a particular person may be inflicting difficulties on her.
Kramser now understands that she needs to come from a place of love, patience, and understanding when dealing with difficult situations or people, she said.
She also explained how she noticed many similarities between her Christian faith and the Eastern teachings of Mr. Li.
“I try to always keep an open mind. … I’m always kind of searching and learning of the way other cultures and other religions think and practice,” she said.
Bringing Together Spiritual Traditions of East and West
Software engineer Alexander Ryan said he is also inspired after reading the article, and recommends the piece to anyone who is “seeking answers.”
Ryan says in his view, humanity needs to ascend to a higher level of being and stop trying to gain at the expense of each other. He believes our modern technology is growing faster than the moral systems needed to constrain it.
“I’m hoping that Falun Gong … can bring together spiritual traditions of the East and the West to help humanity avoid destroying itself,” he said. Falun Gong, a spiritual practice that originated in China, is based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.
Ryan maintains a view that humanity needs to come together as a whole in order to see the world how it truly is, and holds that humanity is looking for answers as to why the world has become the way that it has.
“I think many—most, if not all—mental illness in this world is just good people trying to understand why there’s so much evil in this world. We don’t understand that. And so we’re searching for answers,” he said.
“I would say that we need to open our hearts and minds to the perspectives of others so that we can come closer to the truth.”
