China’s Lunar Probe Pushes Space Race With US

A Chinese lunar probe is on its way back to Earth after collecting soil and rock samples from the far side of the moon and raising China’s flag on the lunar surface. The country’s space program is part of a growing rivalry with the United States, though Washington still holds the lead in space exploration programs.

Rick Fisher, a senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center, said, “China wants to control the moon wants to control access to the moon.”
