A California proposal could give housing aid for illegal immigrants. AB 1840 advances through the legislature as the California Senate passed the bill on Aug. 27.
The bill would prohibit California Housing Finance Agency’s loan assistance program from disqualifying applicants based on immigration status. First-time homebuyers could get up to $150,000 in loans to help with a down payment.
