Women’s Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, when asked during a pre-game interview if she would endorse Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, told reporters Wednesday that people should do their own research.

The question came following a Tuesday night Instagram post by 34-year-old singer Taylor Swift, who announced her endorsement for Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

In response, Clark said “I think for myself is I have this amazing platform, so I think the biggest thing would be just to encourage people to register to vote,” she said.

Clark said that, at 22, this is the second time she’s been legally old enough to vote. As Swift did with her post, she also suggests people do their own research and educate themselves.

“That’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have, and that’s the same thing Taylor did. And I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have, the policies that they’re supporting,” she said.

The Fever lost to the Las Vegas Aces 86 to 75, with Clark putting up 16 points, six assists, and three rebounds.

Swift, in her own post, said she was recently made aware of a conjured-up video created by AI of herself falsely endorsing Republican nominee Donald Trump, so she made the post with her endorsement to prevent misinformation from being spread.

“It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter,” Swift said on Instagram, where she has more than 283 million followers.

She added that Harris and her running mate Tim Walz stand for the beliefs she supports.

“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make,” she said.

Swift also added that one must register to vote and said she would include a link to register, along with voting dates in her Instagram story that day.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he wasn’t surprised by Swift’s endorsement and believed that she was always going to vote that way.

“She’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat,” he said during a Wednesday morning call-in to “Fox and Friends.”
