All eight bulls who escaped from a rodeo event in the Massachusetts town of North Attleboro on Sunday have been safely rounded up.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., the bulls broke loose from their pens at a one-day rodeo event at Emerald Square Mall.

People attending the event posted footage on social media of the bulls running across a parking lot toward a fence as people scrambled to get out of the way.

The bull leading the pack rammed into the fence, toppling it as the rest of the animals leaped over the enclosure, knocking over a vending stall set up along the fence. Several people on the other side of the fence had to run for their lives to avoid getting stampeded.

Other people shared videos of the small herd running through streets and strolling through residential areas.

According to the North Attleboro Fire Department, the bulls then fled south from the parking lot towards the woods behind BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse.

New England Rodeo from nearby Norton announced they were sending their wranglers to assist with the search for the bulls.

“Our cowboy team is heading over now to help,” wrote Haily Anderson, a team member at New England Rodeo, on Facebook. “If you are not helping then please keep your distance. These are large animals that are scared and we do not want to put anyone in danger!”

One bull was caught shortly after the escape, and six more bulls were found together midafternoon behind a fence at a house, North Attleboro Fire Department Chief Christopher Coleman said in a statement.

Responders were able to safely corral the six bulls into a trailer without further incident.

“We are happy to report that 7 out of the 8 bulls are safe and captured,” New England Rodeo wrote on their social media page.

“We were happy to assist in the safe capture, despite these not being our bulls or our production. The Western world has to work together.”

At 4:10 p.m., the North Attleborough Fire Department confirmed one bull was still on the lam.

“Community members should exercise extreme caution and not approach the bull if found,” the North Attleborough Fire Department said in a statement, urging people to immediately call 911 in case they spot the missing bull.

That last bull was safely captured Monday night with cowboys lassoing him and leading him into a trailer.

“He is safe and happy to be back with his brothers! There was grain, hay and water waiting for him in the trailer!” said New England Rodeo in a Facebook post.

No injuries were reported during and after the bulls’ escape.
